Food Companies Band Together to Support Farmers
Many of the foods you eat every day are made from ingredients grown nearby on family-owned farms. And the farmers who grow those ingredients know they must take care of the land so they can continue to farm it and provide for their families. Farmers worldwide also have the vital job of feeding our growing global population.
One way we are helping farmers succeed at sustainable ways of farming is by partnering with other companies to form the Midwest Row Crop Collaborative (MRCC). This diverse coalition is working to expand agricultural solutions that protect air and water quality and improve soil health in the Upper Mississippi Basin through organizations like the Soil Health Partnership.
Through the MRCC’s Farming for the Future™ initiative, companies like Cargill, General Mills, Kellogg Company, PepsiCo, and Unilever are helping farming communities protect our soil and water through programs that help educate the next generation of farmers.
For example, our donation to National FFA Organization in July 2018 will help provide conservation agriculture education to the next generation of farmers. This program will support high school classroom based agricultural education for at least 1,000 students in 3 states and, through an online toolkit, will have the potential to reach 100,000 or more students over time.
